One EAW business partner used our student-employees to test new software, sitting side-by-side with their engineers – an approach that was only possible because of EAW’s smart, innovative, and tech-savvy workforce. That partner realized a 40% reduction in support resolution time by incorporating improvements suggested by EAW students.
Fidelity Investments has employed hundreds of E@W students. Of those, a large percentage stayed on for years and went on to leadership roles.
Ashly Mockbee, a senior set to graduate in the spring of 2024 from Northern Kentucky University with a degree in Finance, shares how her work-based learning experience with Fidelity Investments led to an exciting postgraduate job opportunity with them.
Ashly jumped at the opportunity to work for Fidelity in a position with Stock Plan Services as it aligned perfectly with her academic studies and major in Finance. She appreciated the flexibility Fidelity provided to workaround her academic obligations and earn tuition assistance in addition to her wages. The key benefits Ashly valued most from her work experience with Fidelity were the durable professional skills and technical competencies she acquired in tandem with the tutelage she was getting from her professors and college courses.
Ashley’s soild performance and impressive work ethic didn’t go unnoticed so when there was a position opened at Fidelity, leadership tapped Ashley to apply and ultimately offered her a full-time position upon her graduation. “Working closely with E@W students, we witness firsthand how this work-based learning program transforms the students’ learning journey into a career path while allowing us the opportunity to cultivate an amazing talent pipeline”, exclaims Jessica Murray, CSA Manager, Fidelity Investments.
We partner with academic institutions across the country to create true “campus communities” where the support for Education at Work is embraced because of our nonprofit mission and the impact of our tuition assistance.
E@W helps our institutional partners address the challenge of disproportionate access to paid internship opportunities for students of color, low-income, and first-generation students by bringing the jobs to them. The EAW model helps students earn the money they need to stay in school, while learning the skills that will help them earn more money once they graduate. Our collaboration with universities and colleges ensures that students who have the greatest need are most effectively served.
